China Megacities Lab's research on the Future of the Museum in China is currently exhibited at the HKU/Shanghai Gallery. The research, initiated during the 2012 Summer Workshop, illuminates the current museum building boom in China through a cross-section of the current building production in terms of scale and morphology. The research also compares the ascent of the current art market in China with the rest of the world and maps new art concentrations against a backdrop of population growth, economic development and expanding cultural infrastructures. Included in the exhibition are the speculative proposals for a Future Museum by the GSAPP Advanced Studio VI.
