5th Urbanism\Architecture Bi-City Biennale*Shenzhen
Jeffrey Johnson was selected as co-academic director of the 5th Urbanism\Architecture Bi-City Biennale*Shenzhen (UABB*SZ). For the first time, the biennale will be delivered by two curatorial teams, consisting of Team Ole Bouman and Team Li Xiangning + Jeffrey Johnson. The UABB*SZ is schedule for December 2013.
Jeffrey Johnson deliverd a lecture at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) on January 31. The lecture, "Future City: China," was part of a series of lectures at SCAD focused on the city.
Jeffrey Johnson presented some of the Lab's ongoing research on Megablock Urbanism at Harvard's GSD on November 19.

The Future of the Museum in China
This summer's China Megacities Lab workshops have kicked off in Beijing at Studio-X. One workshop is considering the role of public space in Dawangjing district in Beijing, and is in collaboration with CAFA students and faculty, Urbanus, and a number of other professionals and scholars. The second workshop is focusing on the future of the museum in China, and is in collaboration with Studio Pei-Zhu. The workshops will continue through July.
Eco Plane, one of ten gardens designed as part of World University Park at the 2011 Xi'an World Horticultural Expo, was designed by a China Lab team during a week-long workshop held in Xi'an in the winter of 2010.
Jeffrey Johnson presented the research from the 2010 Shanghai Summer Workshop at NYU as part of the talks organized by Nina Rappaport, curator of the exhibition "Vertical Urban Factories: East Asia."
In the summer of 2011, four Columbia GSAPP students traveled to Chengdu and Xi'an to gather documentation of industrial restructuring and urban redevelopment, in collaboration with teams from Southwest Jiaotong University and the Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology.
