January 17 - February 12, 2010 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. (Monday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.)
From Hainan to Beijing, and Chengdu to Shanghai, China Lab has been critically documenting China’s urban phenomena over the course of three years. Through strategic design, fieldwork, workshops, and symposia, this experimental research unit at Columbia University GSAPP has been constructing a network of multi-disciplinary participant-researchers, to open up the discourse on architecture and urbanism in China, as well as to share resources and methodologies. Instead of presenting solutions, each project in the exhibition represents a method of perceiving and critiquing urban development, and raises questions for the range of participants in China’s cities: developers, policymakers, architects, planners, and citizens. Through this exhibition, we invite you to take away, experiment with, and re-connect your ideas into the network.
